The Ultimate Blind Date, Wine Country Style

We're thrilled to return to beautiful Flora Springs Winery & Vineyards for our fourth Annual Consumer Tasting on Saturday, May 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. As you know, the winery itself is normally open by appointment only, so this is a wonderful opportunity to explore a true signature of St. Helena, a gracious 19th-century stone winery, which is now solar powered by the way.
You will enter the tasting through the fabulous caves emerging on the stunning terrace and pavilion where you can taste your way through over 90 wines - elegant offerings from more than 30 wineries of Appellation St. Helena. Relax and enjoy vistas of the Napa Valley, or stroll in the vineyards. And this year, we are proud to announce that the icon of American epicurean experience, Dean & DeLuca, is co-presenter and will cater delicious food for the event, designed to pair with the extraordinary wines of Appellation St. Helena.
Once again we will hold our very popular blind tasting competition. Everyone can, and should, enter this tasting, especially since it is so much fun and even better, all entrants have a chance to win an instant Appellation St. Helena Cellar worth almost $2,000! Please don't be shy. You can practice your skills before entering since many of the "blind" wines will be available on the tasting tables. And even if you are guessing, (a) we won't tell anyone that you thought Petite Sirah was Cabernet and (b) you might be the lucky winner of all that fantastic wine.  Interactive Map a New Web Site Feature – A First
We are very excited about the addition to our web site of an interactive map of the appellation using Google Maps technology. Just click on the link to the left on the home page and you can choose either a satellite view of Appellation St. Helena or the street map version. The appellation’s boundaries are clearly defined in red and place markers locate our member wineries and vineyards. A click on a place marker, or the name of the winery in the column to the left, opens a page of information about the winery, often including photography or virtual tours. You’ll find web site and email links as well as driving directions.
Google Maps requires nothing more than a browser. For even more capability, such as locating restaurants, hotels, shops and other information, you can download Google Earth, which is free, and have all kinds of fun planning a visit to Appellation St. Helena.
Our web master, Bob Dye, President of Charnu Winery and a member of Appellation St. Helena, is very enthusiastic about being able to provide the very latest information regarding tasting room hours, wine releases and so on. As he points out, the Internet is now the preferred tool for staying up to date in marked contrast to yesterday’s more static paper map and CDs.
Since we are the first appellation group to offer the Google Maps service, forgive us if we brag a bit. We hope you enjoy using it, and we’d love to hear your feedback.
